What is French Tech Sofia?
French Tech Sofia is the local community of founders, tech leaders, investors and ecosystem partners who connect Bulgaria's tech scene with the broader French Tech network. We support innovative startups, scaleups and talents building from Sofia for global markets.
Who can join French Tech Sofia?
Any founder, operator, tech talent, investor or ecosystem partner interested in startups and in the France Bulgaria tech bridge is welcome. You do not need to be French, and you do not need to speak French to participate.
Do I need to run a “French” company to be involved?
No. Many members are Bulgarian or international companies with no legal link to France. What matters is your interest in collaborating with the French and Bulgarian tech ecosystems, or in expanding between the two markets.
What kind of activities do you organize?
We host regular afterworks, talks and panels, themed meetups, and occasional flagship events with institutional partners. We also facilitate introductions between founders, investors, corporates and public actors when relevant.
Is there a membership fee?
For individual founders and talents, participation in the community is generally free, with some events requiring registration or a ticket. Corporate partners and sponsors can support the community through tailored partnership packages.
Are events in French or in English?
Most of our activities are in English to stay inclusive for Bulgarian and international members. Some side conversations and smaller groups may naturally switch to French or Bulgarian, but core content remains accessible in English.
How is French Tech Sofia linked to Mission French Tech in Paris?
French Tech Sofia is part of the official French Tech network, working alongside other labelled communities and capitals. We relay national programs when relevant and showcase local founders and success stories to the French and European ecosystem.
How can I get involved as a founder or startup?
You can attend events, present your startup at meetups, share job offers with the community or ask for warm intros when you have a clear need. The easiest first step is to sign up to our newsletter or join our main communication channels.
